66 427 Engine Install

Helping a friend install a 427 engine in a 66, it's been to long ago I can't remember can you install the engine and transmission as an assembly into the car with the body on ? We plan on leaving the exhaust manifolds, water pump and distributor off the engine.

Mike, I don’t think it is a problem. The car has to be up as high as possible as you can on jack stands and you need to use an adjustable angle top connection to the hoist. That should give you enough clearance to slowly angle the assembly into place.

In addition to this advice, I've heard that having the rear of the car raised higher than the front allows some more angling room for the trans to get into position.

You can do it ( i just did) ,we had 3 guys (extra hands help ) a little swearing and we got her in as an assembly !
