    Help identify two jacks

I have two orphan jacks that have cluttered my garage for years I could use help identifying.

I THINK the one on the left is from a '73 I owned 30 years ago.
I got the one on the right at a swap meet 15 years ago for $10.
The left one uses a 3/4" socket; the right one uses 13/16".

The left one is stamped 2 H. According to the 70-72 this means August 1972.

The right one is stamped 20X on its base.

The right one is also stamped F and what looks like a partial 5. The format is reversed from what the 70-72 JG shows (letter- number rather than number-letter). Does this mean June 1975?

So are these Corvette jacks dated August 1972 and June 1975?

Does this mean lug nut wrench size changed from 3/4" to 13/16" between '72 and '75?

        Re: Help identify two jacks

Hi- I'm Jack. Although I frequently wear a mask (health reasons), I can be identified quite easily. I'm short, fat, ugly, and going bald in back. Since I'm Italian, I also gesture with my hands a lot. At NCRS functions, I typically wear my name badge with the letters 'JACK'. So one Jack has been identified... I hope a second Jack will respond to your request. (Sorry, but I just had to do that.)

          Let me rephrase the question:

Does someone who is sober know if the lug nut wrench size changed from 3/4" to 13/16" between '72 and '75? Or if the '75 jack is for a different car?

            Mark,
The lug nut wrench (aka, jack handle) for 1967-1982 Corvettes is GM # 3898172 (as well as a replacement for 1963-1966 Corvettes) and is for 3/4" hex lug nuts.
I have owned a few Ford Mustang scissor jacks in years past only because I got them for cheap $ at swap meets and they use a 13/16" hex lug nut wrench. Maybe the shaft of your 75 jack was switched for whatever reason. Is there a steel pin that holds the hex end in place or is it a one piece long bolt? I know of no other model that has that same type of top on a scissor jack. I have also owned Corvair scissor jacks with the large "A" (AUSCO, the manufacturer) but the top part that touches the frame is basically 99% flat and they use the same lug nut wrenches (3780737, 3858953, and 3898172) as the 63-64. 65-66, and 67-69 Corvettes.

The lug nut wrench could not possibly have changed to 13/16". All Corvette lug nuts from 1953-82 were 3/4" across-the-flats. So, if any Corvette jack used a 13/16" drive nut that would mean there would have to have been a separate wrench for it. I don't think that would have made too much sense and never happened.

As Dave points out, Ford products as well as other cars did use 13/16" lug nuts. So, I would say this jack originated from one of those. Ausco made jacks for most American car manufacturers.

                Thanks David and Joe.

The screw/hex head assembly is one piece. So apparently there's another car with 13/16" hex lug nuts that uses a jack which is otherwise identical to C3.

Warning to the wise when shopping these: Check the screw head size.

Jack: Thanks for your PMs and help off line.
