Bruce, when you put new filter on Do Not use a lock washer on the bracket, it marks the chrome. Besides not correct!

      Re: engine dies fuelie.

If spark is evident when it dies, this tells me to look for fuel. On a carbureted car the next step would be to remove the air cleaner and blip the throttle and see if fuel squirts from the accelerator pump nozzles.

Since there is no visible way to observe fuel in a fuelie under this condition, this would be my next step....

Best to have a helper with this process. Because engine is hot use extra caution. Fire extinguisher nearby for safety.

      1. Remove the PINK wire connector at the TI main harness connector(white resistor wire) to disable the TI Ignition system.
(NOT by pulling coil high tension lead)

      2. Remove one copper line from a nozzle block. Carefully bend the line upward a bit.

      3. Place a small container under the copper line. Surround with safety rags. This is where a helper is best.

      4. Crank engine and observe if fuel exits from the copper line.

      5. If no fuel, reattach copper line onto nozzle.

      6. Remove GF-90 filter from engine. Check filter for flow blockage.

      7. Place temporary hose on fuel line from engine pump. Place hose into adequately sized jar. Again, this is where a helper is best.

      8. Crank engine and observe if fuel exits from the hose.

      9. If no fuel, raw engine fuel pump suspect, or input to pump is blocked, etc.

PS You can also use a drill to drive the high pressure pump when checking for fuel in step 5. On the one and only fuelie I ever worked on, this is how I bench tested fuel delivery before installing the unit on the engine, taught to me by my very missed good friend Chuck McSheehy long ago.

If not I guess I will have to pull the distributor and send it to Don Baker.

Bruce , your saying your getting spark after it dies out , so forget the igntion system , remove your G90 filter install a clear style fuel filter just for the testing by the clear glass filter you can see if your getting fuel to injector or not then work from there , so when it dies look for fuel in the fuel filter if not go to pump then look from pump to tank , also look at the small rubber hose from the fuel pump to the fuel line sometime the rubber hose check if it soft it could been pitch when getting hotZ06 PHOTOS 106.jpg

Danny and Richard have given your great information, please follow their direction.

One other off the wall item, if you find fuel is not coming out at a location double check the rubber line
of the suspected line, know the older rubber lines are not compatible with the ethol gas, big problem with boats.

            This is a good point.

My '63 would begin to stumble after several seconds of brisk acceleration. I traced the problem to that hose which was collapsing due to fuel pump vacuum. It was a new hose, too. My cure was to insert a short length of coiled spring to keep the hose open.

            Problem solved.

                Hi Guys,
Here is an update on my problem. The pick up coil was bad. Had Don Baker rebuild it. ran fine unless you floor it and it would die. tried everything. spoke with Lyle Davison he suggested it was a vacuum leak and to try tightening the bolts on the plenum. that is all it was. thank you for all your help.
