I have 205 70 series radial in my daughter's '67. It's mounted on a 15" black steel rim which is 5.5" wide. That "tested positive".

Had I used a '67 rally wheel with the same tire, I suspect it would also fit. That's not tested, but I plan to try that soon.

If you use longer Bolts meant for the Knock Off wheels, it should fit.

          Harry,
the problem is the diameter not the height. The 205/75 will not fit into the cavity.

I have an older 7.75-15 bias ply on a rally wheel that still holds air in the tub on my 67. An S-10 Pickup/Blazer mini spare also works well.

They do, but nice examples are getting harder to find...

The bolt pattern is fine and its been "test" bolted up to both my 61 and 63 cars...the diameter is close to the original tire; enough so that I feel OK 'limping' to a nearby gas station with it on the rear of a posi unit... It isn't designed to be driven on very far or very fast; although I've seen morons doing it.

It also fits flat in the 61 spare cavity without the plywood cover hooved up as with full-size radials.. Its an S-10 T155/90D 16

I have an original 63 rim with a "piecrust" bias tire that was in the car for judging - way too old to count on in a jam though...
Having said all that, some claim to keep an "uninflated" full size spare in the tub with a portable air pump (or Slime Fix-A-Flat) as a last ditch solution - I have no personal knowledge of how well that works.

                    Frank,
Thanks for the info, I’m off to see if I can locate an S-10 Spare.

Tom England - The advice I read from Frank is that the S-10 spare fits his 61 & 63. If you are planning on installing this on a 1967, would the disc brake caliper pose different offset and fit issues? Might be a good idea to see if someone has experience installing one on a 65 and up. Just a thought before you buy one.

                        Brad,
Good point, I’m not sure if the tire tub changed from 63-67 or not. Normally only the wheel offset is affected by the calipers and the overall diameter of the mounted tire would be the same. Hopefully someone will chime in with a definitive answer.

Here is a tire size chart to determine a tire to fit the tub. Looks like a 205/70R/15 would work. 26 inch diameter

I picked up an original S-10 spare from the local wrecking yard. The tire size was the typical T155/90D x 16. It would not clear the calipers on the rear of my 65. The front was okay. I don't know if there was a change in the rim design in different years. I'd much rather make a simple cell phone call and have insurance pay to have my car flat bedded home instead of changing tires on the side of the road with cars whizzing by.
