    1966 turn signal fix needed

I have a technical question. My right turn signal is acting up. When I turn on the right (pass side) turn signal, it doesn't flash. The light indicator on the gauge cluster, rear lamp and front lamp just stay on with no blinking. Suggestions for a fix? Thanks, Tony

Tony, This is going to sound unusual, but......

    Change the flasher.

A few years ago Harry Sadlock had similar issues with his car. Read this one. Other folks reported similar oddities and they solved with flasher too.

Since all of your lamps light up on that side but don't flash, the combined current may be a tad less than the other side and the flasher can't "release" the internal contact....then repeat.

The only other thing I can think of is a poor ground or power connection with one of the bulbs or sockets. But a bad connection usually increases current due to higher resistance.

        Tony, one other thing...

Make sure you have the correct flasher for a '66. Since it has only one tail lamp(per side). I think they're different than the 2 tail lamp cars.

Researched flashers... AIMs UPC 12 Sheet B1 & GM books.

            1966 Flasher:
            Also 1964-1965 W/ Backup Lights:
            ----------------------------------
            GM# 383639 TS224 for 2 bulb system(1 front, 1 rear)
            Superceded to 491392

            1964-1965 Flasher:
            Exc Backup Lights:
            ----------------------
            GM# 383637 TS323 SS145 for 3 bulb system (1 front, 2 rear)
            Superceded to 491160

            1963 Flasher:
            ----------------
            GM# 3758682 SS143 for 3 bulb system (1 front, 2 rear)
            Superceded to 9771091

            1967 Flasher:
            ----------------------
GM# 383639 (AIM ref. I think AIM wrong. I think it should be 383637 for 3 bulb system)

Tony, Did you get a change to diagnose your problem? Very curious.

Hi Rich. It was just a loose wire. I re-attached it and it worked! Thanks for your help. Much appreciated!
