    Re: 69 K66 Ignition

What if the #1 position of the cap is right in line with the rotor tip? What should I do then?

Lawrence that's indicating your balancer timing mark is at pointer 0* or very close to it. Is your balancer at 8*A(below 0)? If not what is it at?

Lawrence I'm going to Email or PM my phone# to you. I'm going back in the shop with no access here for quite a while.

We can update diagnosis here for reference later.

Many thanks to Rich for all the help with my car. I have the static timing set at 8*, and the timing map seems to be in line with Rich and Dukes recommendations.i have converted to full manifold vacuum with a B26 can.
i have a few other things to sort out but chipping away at it.

              Lawrence,
Did you buy a repro 263 coil?
I have been thinking about picking up a repro as spare 272 for the LT1's while they are available - was wondering your thoughts about the repro -
A friend offered a GM NOS 207 non embossed -delco 514 -for the same price, however for judging I would still want a technically Correct spare.

Hey James. Yes bought a repro 263, but have since bought an original 207 service replacement for the 263. The jury is still out on the 263. I am having popping problems at high revs but at this point not sure it is a fuel delivery problem or the coil, or both! I know I have a fuel delivery problem..had that prior to installing the TI distributor. When I have time will trouble shoot the fuel issue, correct that then move to the coil. I don't have the coil yet but will soon.
My 69 Z28 was popping at high revs changed the coil all popping went away.
Will update when I am complete. Other than that car runs well.

                  Re: 69 K66 Ignition

I installed the 207 coil and no popping, but I still need to rev the car a little higher to confirm no popping at revs above 5k. I won't take it to 6500 just due to age and don't want to risk scattering the engine. But I do think the repro coil was the culprit as many have reported in the past.

The car has never run this good while I have owned it. So happy to get one more thing sorted out.

I still have a fuel flow issue. I will see if the fuel inlet filter is clogged or look for something else. Once the car starts and I knock the choke off (car is not all the warm at this point) if I blip the throttle there is a stumble.

                  Any ideas?

                  Thanks

                  Lawrence
