I was looking at my old 4rh edition JM and it say bolts that were out of sight were black oxide/ bulk.phosphate. Does this still hold true in the new manual? My 72 about 7or 8 year was judged that the should be Zinc bolts. The outside rear visible bolts are cadmium.which say is correct.

          .

Ron do you have the latest JRM for 70/72? Just wondering what it says about bolts and washers?

Yes, I do. I believe it mirrors my reply.

Ed - In regard to the starter. My experience and research makes me believe that standard shift cars are painted all black and automatics are black except for the nose which is natural.
