Smaller 7 or possibly v after transmission date stamp in 1967

My transmission has the same type of extra character:

Does anyone have any info about the extra character, or what it means? Thanks for any help.

7" (Muncie, 1967, Feb. 13th) with the last digit being the top half of the number "7" just like in your photos. The partial VIN was "7S113122" (1967, St. Louis, Corvette # 13122). This was an original 1967 Corvette Muncie transmission as the partial VIN and date code check out with the 1967 Corvette VIN's and engine code stampings in Noland Adam's 63-67 Corvette restoration book (page 443) made in February 1967. I took notes on this because I thought it was quite unusual, maybe just a stamping error.
