L71 Correct Timing Cover
Does anyone have a source for a correct L71 timing chain cover for my 67 corvette?

What you need is a GM #3885054. This is a non-dowel pin type cover with timing tab for an 8" balancer. Unfortunately, it was discontinued in May, 1969 and replaced by GM #3935444 which is the dowel pin type cover which also SERVICES non-dowel pin applications. Given that the 3885054 was discontinued 51 years ago, finding an NOS example will be a challenge, to say the least. If you did find one, I'll bet it would be selling for a king's ransom. Used examples, of one condition or another, may be out there but I bet they command high prices, too.
There is a reproduction of the 3885054 available. From what I've seen of it, it looks pretty good. I expect that most of the Corvette parts vendors carry it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -
