With the 010 cast on the side of the block, the casting date must be later since than 70 or 71. Does anyone know when that marking started?

      I thought my 70 L46 june 16 had the 010 cast.
I was told this crate motor is 1977.

70 blocks were 010 blocks but there was no 010 marking on the side of the block.

I have a short block assembly that I purchased new from GM in 1975. The date on the block is August 27, 1975. It does not have the "010" cast on the side so, apparently, that was added after that time.

The GM #3970653 partial engine assembly was available in SERVICE until July, 1981.
