So we put the 2006 up so I could take a look to see what was going on under my friends car. Before we did that the car was in park, and yes he could start the car and move the shifter through all gear selection but nothing would engage. The rear cable was on the tranny shifter just fine so we concluded that the front bushing had failed. I put the tranny lever in neutral so we could push the car out of the garage when the time came to move it. My friend does not do any of his own repair so I am waiting to hear what his next move will be. Told him that whoever works on the car, that if they replace the cable, to get me the old one, as I am going to purchase the replacement bushings from NAPA to see if we can 3D print a new one out of carbon fibre, and I need that cable to be sure that the printed one will work. Just an FYI

      Ric,

Same thing I experienced 5 years ago.

A Phillips, a Torx driver, a socket ratchet wrench(IIRC 10MM), a pair of long pliers and a few misc tools, a new bushing and it's fixed.

IF he's thinking new cable he'll have to get it towed to a shop. Probably $500 or more in labor plus cost of cable.

I received the 2 transmission levers today(10347389), again ahead of schedule. I now have all items for my experiments. Next week may work.
