follow-up on trying to get my 69 L-46 to run with the stock dizzy-PROBLEM SOLVED!

    Guys,

Just wanted to report back an update on this long running problem I've been troubleshooting for several months. As was recommended by a fellow forum member I replaced the distributor to coil (-) wire, the distributor base plate wire, and the points and condenser to try and get it to run and it worked! The car now starts and runs easily with the factory ignition system. I think of the things that I replaced the most likely culprit was the distributor to coil (-) wire. It had a look to it- a little lumpy under the insulation- that was suspicious to me, but I was fooled by the fact that it was working as the trigger for the MSD ignition I had temporarily wired in and so I thought it couldn't be bad. Mark Edmonson set me straight on that so forever grateful for that. I pulled the distributor and replaced both the coil (-) wire and the base plate wire and replaced the points and condenser, which were the second set of new points I had tried but I figured why not start fresh. Thanks to all who have helped with this nightmare along the way. Appreciated as always!

Thanks for the update. I like it when folks close out an issue and share the rest of the story.
