    Re: Coil spring tape/tag location

Often you can move them around the spring, ie they're not stuck in place after 50 years.
Most commonly I see them toward the centerline of the car.

        Re: Coil spring tape/tag location

I have usually seen them at the 3rd or 4th coil from the bottom. Be sure to face the tail inward.

          Ron,

Gary advice. What position around the coil have you seen on originals?

                Re: Coil spring tape/tag location

I would believe that Ron G. is absolutely correct - this is a tag placed by a human so that another human can identify it while it is not installed on the car. It could be anywhere.

Nah, I've seen them all over as well. One that recently was here had the tag so high I wasn't sure it was on the car, but I found it.

Just stick it on like you're paid base wages, and move on.

OK. Enough research on this project.

                      Thanks all,

                      Gary

                        Re: Coil spring tape/tag location

I was referring to the 3:00 position that faces inward toward the center of the chassis and the 9:00 position facing the spindle.

No, it would be towards the front.
