RM: Outstanding work, as usual. If and when this gets into the library (in sticky area), I also recommend a link to this very discussion.

        Re: C2 ground straps

Alan, Gary and myself have been offline working on a updated version and a pdf of the table. Alan created a new pdf version of the table with more information and details.

Please take a look. Comments and feedback and ideas welcome. Note there's been much research to get to this pint and may need some "adjusting", but this is a nice addition to our Database.

        Thanks Alan and Gary.

I've added this to the UPDATE page in the Sticky HERE. See "C2 Ground Straps & Hardware" in the Update List for the link to download the pdf.

Looks like a good shot; however, are you sure about "Rt Motor" for 63 and 64? The 65 judging manual says "left motor typical", and I got dinged since my 65 was on right side. On my 65 there were holes in frame for either side. Would be nice to see that cleared up when the 65-66-67 chart is done.

          Thanks and regards, Elliott Pflughaupt

Well, attached the 65 AIM with strap on Rt Motor Mount, (check your copy since I see no dates on this sheet)
One thing to remember is that the hole on the opposite mount side was not used, ie no threads, then you should be able to argue production just used other side.
Many members have seen that. Note if no threads in the unused hole do not switch, wait till the JG catches up with car, do not want to destroy your original example.
The JG for 63/64 the sheet seems to expect then on right side but then states that "known original cars cars have been observed with ground strap on the left side and on both sides" Perhaps yours says the same, check.
Now lets look at the original point, it consists of 5 points for Ft engine mounts and ground strap.
The 5 points is 20% for each of the CDCIF or 1 point as a possible loss. Your car has 2 mounts, 6 bolts, and a ground which has 3 parts, total of 11.
So worst case if you loss credits due to NO ground strap that would be 11-3 or 3/11=.27 of that 1 point so one should expect a NOTE only!
Remember we are all still learning the CDCIF and it makes a difference at what level the review is at.

              Elliot,

Speaking for myself, addressing content issues in the judging guide like the one you describe was not the intent in the creation of our charts. There is a process for considering the content and changes to the Judging Guides and that is in the control of the Team Leaders and the JG Revision Teams for each year. Our accumulation of part numbers in the charts was largely based on the content in the C2 Assembly Instruction Manuals. The charts we put together are not meant to replace the process for adding or changing the content in the Judging Guides. Maybe our charts might influence improvements to the Judging Guides in the future, but that is a separate process, typically requiring lots of evidence from lots of cars. As a spin-off to the ground strap part number charts, I’ve embarked on a new research project concerning the presence or absence of a star washer at the accelerator lever during the ‘66 model year.
