C3 69 Power Windows Don't Go All the Way Up and Noisy

    Hi everyone,

I did a complete overhaul on my PW set up - rebuilt motors, regulators, new rollers, cleaned/greased tracks, etc. and ensured tracks are not bent or damaged. I have a '69 convertible.

    - The windows will not go up that last roughly quarter of inch unless the door is open resulting in a very small gap at the top. I'm assuming this is not expected. Is this an adjustment issue? I have a coupe with the same issue.

    - Operation is still rather noisy mostly when they start to move and a bit when they stop. I don't expect them to be as quiet as a new car but was hoping the rebuild would have better results. Could just be all the inherent play in the system but I never had the pleasure to own a brand new '69 Corvette and was wondering if they are just noisy?

    Thanks,

    Jack

Jack, sure sounds like a adjustment, is the window contacting the front or rear weather strips before the window is up at the top. Because the window will go up with door is open that tells me something is binding or contacting something to stop the window before it hits the top.

Hi Edward. Yes, it definitely engages at the front before it's all the way up. In fact. that rubber coated metal piece on the front weatherstrip has had the rubber scraped off from years of the glass hitting it and being forced out. I thought that might actually be it's job. I've been messing with the front track adjustment and I don't see any other way to get the window any further "outboard". Have also played with the stops, for example, stopping the rear a bit sooner in the hope the front will get more power for that last 1/8" or so. It's only about 3" of the front portion of the window that has the gap when the window is powered up with the door shut - both sides.
