    1958 four-speed shift knob

I have seen two styles of shift knobs on 1958 Corvettes equipped with the four=speed transmission. One with a plain white ball and the other with the shift pattern etched into the ball. Could someone confirm which one is correct? I wonder if the one with the shift pattern might be a mid-year change.

Plain white ball on all solid axle Corvettes from 56 to 62.

Thanks, Tom. I think the ball with the shift pattern on it must have been a popular replacement. It doesn't seem necessary since the shift pattern is also on the console.

I seem to remember that '56 and early '57's had a chrome ball.
