Has anyone seen the LS6 Convertible which is included in Mecum's liquidation of the Treworgy museum? It is in the Saturday (Jan. 23) sale. If you have any insight on this particular car or the collection as a whole, please reply or send me a PM. Thanks, and happy new year.

Re: Mecum / Treworgy LS6 Convertible
I focused in on the yellow one in another January Mecum auction. My mistake. The blue Treworgy one is another car. Two LS6 convertibles for auction the same month is extremely unusual. Don’t buy the Mecum hype that there were only 24 convertibles built. It is likely that there were 60-65 of them. Still rare enough. I looked at the Treworgy car right at a year ago. Nice enough car. Lots of small details incorrect under the hood, along with bigger things like radiator and power brake booster. Definitely looks to me like it has been restored, rather than a bowtie candidate. Know nothing about its history.
(QUOTE=Mike Ernst (211);885874]Don’t know the history of the car, but it has wrong water pump, shielding top, valve covers, smog pump. Touted as a 33k mile car.[/QUOTE]- Top

Re: Mecum / Treworgy LS6 Convertible
For what it's worth, I spoke to Jim Wallace , the keeper of the LS6 registry, (has an article in the latest "Restorer") about this car.
He cannot access this TDB for some reason , but suggested I reply that this LS6 is a clone of some kind.
For further info you can reach him at the contacts noted in the Restorer article.- Top

It was just bid up to $125k, but did not meet the reserve. Tank sticker claimed as documentation.- Top

Re: Mecum / Treworgy LS6 Convertible
You are right. This was the yellow convertible with claimed 33k miles that Mike Ernst commented on, not the blue possible clone to be auctioned next week.- Top

Right. I watched the yellow car go across the block live. I also watched Terry M. (Pro team) who was sitting a few rows in front of me ignore it.Don Lowe

I was impressed with that row of '67 big blocks when I was there in 2013 as well. After touring his collection, I was convinced he had no need for Dexron.

Re: Mecum / Treworgy LS6 Convertible
Thanks everyone. For anyone reading this thread for the first time, it might make sense to address some of the back and forth. A yellow LS6 that Mr. Ernst spotted some issues with crossed the block at Mecum Kissimmee yesterday, was bid to $125k, and did not sell. ProTeam was there and didn't bid at all. The blue LS6 from the Treworgy liquidation sale has not (yet) received any comment on this thread at all as to how correct it is or otherwise. Some posters indicate that the Treworgy collection did not pay a lot of attention to originality or correctness. I'm not actually going to bid on the blue LS6, but I thought out of fairness it made sense to clarify because at lot of the negative posts about the yellow car should not influence what people think about the blue car.- Top

Re: Mecum / Treworgy LS6 Convertible
Totally unrelated to the LS6 portion, how does everyone else feel about the the LACK of VINs? Last year in Glendale, I was asked by 3 buyers to take a look at an alleged AIRBOX '57; when I inquired about the VIN, Mecum told me I had to register to bid before gaining such information. I responded to my 3 inquiries that "reluctance =d phoney" and declined to register. None of them bought and I received one Thank You.- Top
