I did the identical same thing a few years back - the sound is pretty phenomenal with no permanent mods to the car.
You can even match the primary interior colors and the speaker is heavily weighted and doesn't slide around.

That's a pretty nice setup. Not sure it will work well with the music of my sidepipes.

Frank, great minds think alike! Lol

Paul, I have side pipes and you can still hear fairly well, much better than the original speaker. It helps that the speaker is focused towards you and not reflected from the window plus you get the great Bose sound quality.

Thanks Tom. I actually have tried driving around with my Harmon Kardon blue tooth speaker. It wasn't too bad except that it kept falling over. This Bose might work for me. It doesn't scratch up the dash does it?

Its got a heavy, rubberized base and doesn't move around..

              Paul,
it has substantial weight and like Franks image shows a padded base that grips well. If you have a Bose store near you you could check one out. I just weighed mine and it’s 1lb 8oz. A fair amount for its size.

And for the C3 guys, I got a JBL Flip 4. It's round, like a barrel, and sits nicely on the dash against the windshield, doesn't move. Almost wish I'd found that before sinking $$$ into the original radio.
