    As cams go, the terms "Z-28" and "LT-1" generally refer to the same cam, GM #3972178. I should have used the term "LT-1" in my above post, though, and I'll edit it for better clarity. All 1970-72 Corvette LT-1's used the 3972178 cam as did all 1970-72 Z-28's. Actually, 1967-69 Z-28 used the GM #3849346 ("30-30") cam, the same as 1964-65 Corvette SHP. The GM #3849346 was discontinued in December, 1971 and replaced by the GM #3972178.

    The GM #3736097 ("Duntov cam") was used on SHP 1957-63 Corvette 283's and 327's. It was never replaced by any other part number.
