    1969 N14 and underbody insulation

    I have a Jan 69 built coupe with side exhaust that I am in the process of restoring. The under body insulation in the car, which has only 23K miles is as follows, under floor pan, up outside lower firewall, along each side of body on the frame behind side exhaust covers and over the transmission. The car did not have the small piece in front of mount 2 which is correct as stated in the judging manual, but it also didn't have the foam piece over the bell housing and it also didn't have the piece at the rear of the frame as stated in N14 of the AIM. It also did not have the small triangle pieces in the interior. Can anyone verify what should be there as I know they changed things during production.

    My 1969, January 20 build with side exhaust, has/had the under car and up firewall insulation of which you speak. The firewall shields are white plastic and the under floorboard shielding is steel.

    It has the over frame insulation called for in the AIM for N14 cars.

    It has the above transmission insulation.

    I will have to look into the bell housing "horse collar" as there are pictures of this area that may reveal what you ask. I will hake those investigations and post back during the week. I believe we will be able to make an assessment regarding this detail.

    I am not sure the insulation by mount #2 is installed on side exhaust cars. We might look at that one more closely.

    Sadly, I can not speak to the rest of your questions at this time as the car is in inaccessible storage until the great Spring thaw.

    Depending on the date of your car it might be helpful for us to communicate more closely. The restoration of my car is just beginning.

      Terry;

      My car was built Jan 21st a day after yours. The car was never touched and when I took the body off it did not have the bell housing collar or the pieces the went at the front of the rear wheel well. Let me know if I can help.
