Permatex Ultra Black has the best oil resistance. I use it for almost every RTV application except very high temperature. For those, I use Ultra Copper. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Permatex Ultra-Grey application
Gary
I have used the Blue or Black on the intake "china walls" I have used the black for cover gaskets too but the gray seems to be a little thicker if that makes sense. You are right, there are a lot of products to easily get confused on. That chart really helps. I used to know an engineer at permatex and would ask him about applications, he really knew his stuff but like many places they got rid of him to bring in a younger guy at 1/2 pay. One of the last things he was working on was the differential RTV they came out with at the time since synthetic oils were eating through the RTV used and causing leaks. Yet another reason I still use conventional gear oil in my differentials.- Top
