In reviewing the hardware to attach the upper radiator bracket to the core support, I found a spacer plate that does not appear on AIM UPC 11-13, A5, where I would expect to see it. The spacer plate is 3 5/8” wide, x 1” tall x 0.25” thick, and has the stamping “6 1 2”, which looks curiously like a June 12 date code, which would be reasonable for my July build date car. Has anyone seen such a spacer plate before? If so, why does it not appear in the AIM?
Or is this plate likely an addition made by a previous owner for some reason?
PS The radiator I removed from my ‘66 L79 was a correct GM one, but had a 1973 date code, so replaced for some reason by GM seven years from when the car was new.
Thanks,
Gary
