    Re: Corvette Tie Down Location

If I use straps, how about short strap around each lower rear control arm instead of around spring itself. Then longer strap connected to the short straps and crossed?
    Thanks

Short straps around the trailing arms would be ok...... If you are talking about the "rods" that go from the wheel to the spring center plate, I would NOT recommend it.
A suggestion would be to have a set of short straps made up with a "J" hook on one end and a "D" ring on the other. You could then attach your tie down straps to the "D" rings. An advantage would be that you can place the hooks into the frame holes before entering the trailer and drag the short straps attached to the frame into the trailer. Make the straps long enough so you can reach them under the car once inside the trailer.
I place the strap hooks into the frame before moving the car into the trailer. In my case I use a winch to pull the car into the trailer. With the rear straps already installed at a predetermined length and hooked to the trailer floor rings I pull the car until the straps are taught. This sets the car at the same location each time I load it for good trailer weight balance. Then I tie down the front end. It is easy to attach the hooks when the car is on the tail ramp... just reach under the car and attach...... The winch also eliminates the need for an "escape door" in the trailer side. An additional winch advantage, is the ability to load a car that is not running.......

        Wheel nets work very well.

          Paul,
That won't bend or distort the rear spring?? Can you cross the rear straps if you go around each side of the rear spring?

            Steven,
Would it be ok to run the rear straps around or through the V shaped piece that the outside ends of the locating "rods" attach to?
            Thanks
