    Gary,
I have an NOS license plate attachment screw envelope. I have only seen a few other envelopes, but have NEVER seen a cloth bag. My understanding was the bag was for the hard top wrench. Others will chime in, but that may be something that needs to be corrected in the JM. ARA

I'd wager that on the line if the guys ran out of envelopes they probably just grabbed a wrench bag instead. If they had zip lock bags lying around back then maybe we'd see some of those too.

Do we know if the screws were already in the small envelope, when shipped to assembly plants... or if the line workers filled the envelope, and stapled them shut? I would have thought the 3875313 'attachment units' were shipped filled/complete, but I've been wrong before.

Paul Mazut has the paper envelopes. I used them on C-1 I had judged. Paul's number 413 243 3439

This comes from a 1966 Convertible (built October of 1965):

C1 and C2 license plate screw envelopes are different. Above are photos of the C2 envelope.

Jack.....I too think the C2 envelopes came stapled with the screws inside from a vendor.

Is that 1966 - 1967 only or would this have been a done in 1965 also?

                      Jack,

The envelope for the screws is an interesting item for judging, since the bag held non-flat items and was stapled, judges would expect to see a damaged bag. How many items do we judge where a non-damaged item should be judged at NFT?

James- The 1965 Misc Shipping List called for a different part number (3858189).

Gary- The example that I have, has been opened in the past (right side/rear plate was common to install).
Not all states had a two plate requirement during this time period.
You'll also see envelopes that were torn down the middle, and detached.
