What is the application of the clip?

      Gary,

Are the clips you refer to for the firewall? If so, I've bought them recently from LIC.

        Keith,

In the ‘66 AIM, UPC M20/M21M22, sheet A4, shows where two of those clips go. The clip is item 5; the rivet is item 4. Some prior posting suggest the 0.32” rivet hole is incorrect.

View A on that AUM page shows the one inside the transmission tunnel. I think that’s what it shows. That’s the one I’m currently dealing with on my car. I think the clip on the driver’s side of the tunnel is for the wire to the reverse switch on the transmission.

            Janes,

One in your second photo at the upper left might be what I need. The hole for the rivet in the clips I need can’t be as large as the other two types of clips I see in the bag.

Until I remove my original clip, I won’t know the size of the hole for the rivet, but I estimate the hole is no more than 1/3 the width of the clip.

That clip is needed at 6 locations on my ‘66, and my original clips are unrestorable. I’ve looked thru the Long Island Corvette catalog from front to back, multiple times, and I can’t find that clip. I’ve searched the Paragon website for the GM part number and that doesn’t yield anything. I assume the clip might be sold as a clip and rivet combination. If a plastic coated version doesn’t exist, I’d be happy buying an uncoated version. Since I can dip coat it myself. I just need to find a repro source for the clip. Anyone know of a source?

Thanks Joe. I was ready to buy some, until I found out shipping is $11 x the number you buy. I sent a message to the seller about combining shipping.

                Gary

PS: Had I read the eBay item description more carefully, I would have found the paragraph that talks about combined shipping. I’ll report back when I find out what the shipping winds up being.

Update: I got $11.50 of my shipping charge refunded. That company has an unusual shipping cost policy, to say the least.

                    Gary,
You bought on eBay - its ebay's means of handling this not Tracy's - really. Last year ebay cut out the payment processor and raised their prices 2% plus, and made it increasingly harder for sellers to combine anything - they ebay 12.5% of everything and charge sales tax too. Next time go to their store or call. And yes, this is a newer and closer clip than I have seen in years past...

Don't forget Ebay owns 1/3 of Craig's list. They are playing the long game. As soon as one other two sells they will be a majority stake holder.
