    C1 Brake/Tail lights

Looking for Brake/Tail lights that flash during brake application and fit existing sockets on my 1961. I have heard about these but cannot find any information or where to purchase. Any ideas are welcome

I thought flashing red or blue was pretty much illegal everywhere in the US. and in most other jurisdictions. Have the regulations been amended recently? The cars that flash the 3rd brake light 3 times are not illegal, because that was approved federally.

Thanks for your reply. I was told that flashing tail lights may be illegal in Michigan, however, I have seen them on motorcycles. Looking for brighter tail / stop lights. Tried Led's but they don't seem any brighter.

If you tried just an led bulb, you are right they do not seem much brighter. If you buy the light assembly I think you will be happy. I was, here is a fellow members e-mail, he is who I bought mine from. ohiovette@hotmail.com, he has tail lights and front clear or amber lights

Search "1157 flashing brake light" on eBay. It looks like many of these bulbs won't work properly in a combination tail light/brake light socket, so watch for that.

Another option is to mount a separate third brake light. I haven't tried it but some of these are thin enough to possibly mount above the license plate or inside the rear window. eBay has a couple of license plate frames with an integrated brake light. You'll also need a module connected to the brake light/tail light circuit that isolates the brake light signal so it won't blink with the turn signals.

If you do this, let us know how these work and what you learn about their legality.

Joseph, when you talk to Bruce (ohiovette) ask him about the flashing lights If I remember correctly (and that's a big maybe) he has a flasher or something that does that.

All you jeed to know about strobing incandescent or LED brake lights, three wire hook-up completely adjustable flash, easily zip-tied under the dash and cheap. Strobing lights are only legal in Florida on emergency or specially designated vehicle or a third brake light; I don't care after getting nailed by distracted drivers - I use them: Note the wire color functions CAREFULLY, they are not rraditional.
