    Replacing C4 Hood Release Handle

    All------

Anyone ever replace a C4 hood release handle? There's a single screw retaining the handle assembly to the bracket. It's an absolute bear to get at. It will likely be even more difficult to re-install. Any words of wisdom?

This assembly and handle must be one of the worst designed components of a C4. It should never have been made of plastic.

    Joe,
There are a lot of C4 parts designed "not for assembly"
This video, or perhaps another that G will then suggest may help

      Joe,

And they are in a remote location and not much access for an old man like me.
Pulled this one off the shelf. If you need one let me know.

Thanks and thanks for the offer. However, I have several new GM handles in my stash. I won't have to use one, though. I did finally get the existing handle out. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the handle, itself. What had happened was that the drive pin that serves as the pivot shaft had partially worked its way out. There are no retainers for this pin which is an incredibly cheap and poor design. I've worked out a permanent fix for this and I'll be posting info on this soon.
