Am I correct in assuming that all 1966 Corvettes left the factory with backup lights installed?

Re: 1966 Backup Lights
Roger - I'm guessing you've run across a 66 that doesn't have the Backup Lights? I've seen a few over the years and figure it was either due to rear body damage or personal preference. My 65 Coupe originally had backup lights but when I wound up doing a body off in the mid 80's, I preferred the look of '4' red tail lights so that's the harness I went with.Mike T. - Prescott AZ.- Top

Re: 1966 Backup Lights
The initial 1966 Corvette Order Form (dated 5-65) did show the backup lights as an option.
(this form also had the 427 engines as 400HP & 450HP)
The next 1966 Corvette Order Form (dated 8-65) had this info korrected.
These are excerpts from the initial form... it was sent back to the dealer by the Zone Office, for korrections.
NOTE: The non-glare mirror did NOT become 'standard', it was a dealer installed option.
And according to an early 1966 AIM, the Z01 option was CANCELED on 7-26-65 (prior to the start of production).

Re: 1966 Backup Lights
Thank you guys for clearing up my confusion. Over the years I have seen a lot of '66 cars w/o backup lights. My research has shown me that the c&c group wasn't listed as an option, but I never found proof that the lights were standard equipment, either. I can always get the answers I need from this group.- Top
