Todd I would first check the shifter and linkage for issues. You would have to get under the trany and check linkage and shifter first for something loose or out of adjustment. Having someone moving the shifter may help. Check the linkage brackets bolted to the trany , 4&3 ,2&1 should be pointing up for neutral if it's in reverse. If loose or out of adjustment, it may be sticking in a gear not allowing a change. Disconnecting one linkage rod at a time to see if the bracket is moving all the way to neutral position. Is the shifter original or a hurst? Original uses a piece of flat stock you can make and hurst uses a small rod placed in the shifter bottom to hold shifter in neutral while the linkage is adjusted. It's tight in there and pulling the trany mount to lower it a bit can make a enough difference.- Top
