Re: Two mystery holes on RH inner fender skirt
Gary #2 and #3 appear to be added by a prior owner, maybe for a alarm horn or ignition box or some other item.
For reference here's a 66 that shows no holes there.

Funny Frank and I were thinking along the same lines. I also thought overflow bottle but didn't add that.
So Gary if you want to fill them in you can use some chopped mat and resin with some backing on the wheel side to keep flat. I had a few holes like that on one and it was a bit of work but looks better. A few photos for reference.

Re: Two mystery holes on RH inner fender skirt
Frank, Richard,
Thanks for the confirmation that the holes are not factory original. I was pretty sure they needed to be filled in.
Richard, for your repair, did you bevel the hole on both the engine side and the fender well side before patching with fiberglass? Or is beveling the periphery on just one side adequate to give the uncurled fiberglass more surface to grab into? Also, did you dye the resin black?
And what’s the purpose of the white tape around the hole? Just to keep the adjacent fiberglass free of new fiberglass slop?

Richard,
When I zoom in, I can tell that the loop of the two, rearmost plastic straps and overflow hose are above the holes in the fiberglass. In the AIM it shows the hose below the holes. Have you seen 65-67 cars done the way it shows in the AIM?

Gary I'll check my files later, out right now. edit, I may have changed that, can't recall.
Also, since you'll have to strip and repaint the skirt any color for the resin or no color would be okay too.

Richard,
Yes, the repair will be covered with blackout on the engine side, and I can add some subtle blackout to the wheel well side. But I like the idea of blackening the resin as well.

Re: Two mystery holes on RH inner fender skirt
Gary,
I used the black resin dye from Amazon when I repaired holes in my fan shroud where someone drilled some small holes to add a flap. You would probably not notice them unless I pointed it out. A few drops goes a long way!

Re: Two mystery holes on RH inner fender skirt
Gary, I used a piece of masking tape behind the holes and used the trusty JB Weld it drys in minutes and if need be you can reapply. Use a razor blade to spread.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
