    66 C2>Need Advice of R&R Casco #63 Element

Trying to R&R Casio #63 Cigarette Lighter Element. What is the trick to get the old one off? Looking at
the N.O.S. one there seems to be a small clip of some sort in the middle. I tried gently to snap the old one off
w/o any luck. Do not what to damage the original Knob. Car is 66 Corvette. Thanks>Larry

The knob screws into the element.

        Larry,
Not crystal clear on what you're asking. The knob simply unscrews from the element. If you're asking how to remove the element from the element retainer, I don't have that answer.

Leif>Thanks for the reply. Just R&R Element not element from the element retainer.

                Larry:

Apologies if you have already done this but ... I restored the original Casco element on my 67 using a straight pin and a modelers "pin vise".

I do a lot of scale modeling as well as real cars and this item is indispensable for both.....

I first run the point of the straight pin around the coil to clean it out.... then twist a bit of 000 steel wool on the surface to clean things up.... it turns our like new.....you can also use a bit of compressed air to get everything out of the coil....one use darkens the element coil and it looks perfect.

Here is the modeling pin vise and the straight pin..... give it a try...it really cleans things up pretty well....just go slowly and don't force it!!

                Regards
                Bill
