Blackout on female hood catches & release cable on St Louis cars during late C2 era

    https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...lackout+female

Also, regarding the hood release cable that crosses from side to side, was the cable secured by the three metal clamps attached to the firewall when the blackout was applied?

    Thanks,

    Gary

Giving this posting a redo to get it back on page 1.

Is there no one who has reproduced the factory blackout on the female hood catches attached to the firewall of a St Louis body 64-67 who is willing to share a photo of their handiwork?

Gary, I have a lot of pix I took of my latches when I removed them from my car showing the areas covered or over-sprayed by blackout. I know it's probably too late but I'll put them up here. Nevermind, the picture loader allows me to attach only ONE photo at a time and I'd be here all morning loading one picture at a time. Here are a few. Email/text me if you want more pix.

        Brian,

Thanks. Mine are indeed reinstalled, with a hint of body color and then some blackout. All the original examples I found did not have an abundance of blackout. And what was there was largely confined to the top, along the rear, near the firewall, the inboard vertical side, and some on the underside,, that I shot with the rattle can aimed upward, and outboard.

Gary, the level of blackout on the hood catches can vary some, but mostly on one third or so closest of the catch to the firewall. I've never seen a fully black hood catch that was a factory original.

Studying the differences between St. Louis vs. A. O. Smith bodies is a fun study subject.

          Keep it going! Tony
