    Re: Suspension Part Identification

I bought the cat in 1976 and am very confident that the springs have never been out of the can and I also pretty sure at this point they are stops and that is where they belong. Given this they must have been installed at the factory.

I had some old GM replacement ball joints and they were in the box. The bolt was supplied to replace the rivet and I believe the large circular nut was supposed to be a stop for the suspension.

These have nothing to do with ball joints. I just stated that the shop that did work on bushings might have inadvertently put them in parts from another persons job but I do not think this is the case. I at this point feel the are stops that go up in frame where spring seats for a stop for spring. There is 5/16 hole and the oval head fits perfectly in the spring bed. Additionally I somewhat remember removing 5/16 nut. In doing job once you remove control arms and spindle the top of frame is totally exposed when looking under wheel well. The 5/16 nut is there in total view and I think removed nut which would have dropped oval stop in the floor which is why I don't know where it came from. I did both sides the same removing anything in sight.
