Such a loss to all of us, but no more than his family. You will not find ONE post of his that didn't help at least one person out. He wanted to dump all his knowledge out there so ALL future hobbyists could learn from and share in his knowledge. He wanted nothing in return for his contributions to the hobby. That's the definition of a class act. RIP my friend. It was pleasure to have met you and shot the poop with you over some coffee....your contributions here will never die....but will only continue to teach and assist all future hobbyists....ARA

Sad to hear about John. I had heard from mutual friends that he was suffering for a long time. Now he's a peace with our Lord.
          God Bless John Hinchley.

God's speed Mr. Hinckley. He was writing a book about GM Fisher Body. If it was published it would be a fitting tribute.

Such a fine and humble gentleman that took pleasure in the sharing of his knowledge so freely with us. So glad I had a chance to meet him personally and speak with him, he left a lasting impression, his enthusiasm was contagious. We are so fortunate to have all the valuable information he left us which along with his fond memory lives on. RIP John.

                              Very saddened.

I first met John through the old original tech board (when there were two, a pure technical and a much less tecnical. This caused the start up of Vetteheads.com, but that's another story). I met him several more times in Carlisle and Bloomington (Pheasant Run and Bloomington) We were able to relax with adult beverages at Carlisle at the Vetteheads spot G110.
We related to each other some of our military experiences such as John being a combat chopper pilot and being shot down 3 times in Viet Nam.

He was always gracious in answering all questions and having photos and the experiences to give tips for repairs for all who asked.

I am going to miss you my friend. Rest In Peace, you've earned it.

                                Re: John Hinckley

                                Sad news indeed.

I first met John when he joined the original NCRS DB as John 29964 and I noted he was also from Michigan. He then became active in the MI NCRS Chapter, eventually becoming our Chairman and blessing us with his knowledge and Tech articles up until the end. I, too, was able to spend time with him at Bloomington and Carlisle as well as personal visits to his home and a private tour of the Viper plant shortly before he retired.

Thanks, John, for everything you did for the MI Chapter, the NCRS and the automotive hobby as a whole.
                                You will be missed.

My condolences to Linda and the rest of his family.
