Shifter Reverse Problem

I have a 64 327 4 Speed. When I put it in reverse I get reverse but the shifter doesn't fully engage into the reverse position. Reverse lights not on. Linkage doesn't seem to be jammed at all. Any advice as to what I should look at appreciated.

If you can operate in reverse, what makes you think reverse is not fully "engaged"? Is it just based on the fact that the back-up lights do not work?

It's probably either the switch adjustment or a bad switch. Look at your 1964 Corvette Shop Manual Supplement.

Have you gone through the shifter setup procedure using the metal alignment block?
