Re: 1964 rocker moulding
Jack, Do you mean getting them over the upper reinforcement?
I've put washers between them and the body to increase the spacing a bit. I use a tad of dum-dum to hold the washers on to ease installation of the screws.
Particularly if repro pieces.

Re: 1964 rocker moulding
The late (I can't believe I'm saying that now) John Hinckley recommended this method on the Corvette Forum a few years back and I've used it on 63 repro AND original rocker molding.Attached Files- Top

Re: 1964 rocker moulding
Jack,I know, it should be a piece of cake to install. I’m having a difficult time getting the first one (passenger side) to drop in and down like it’s supposed to. Lot’s of spring upward so it won’t lay flat like I know it should. ANY and ALL SUGGESTIONS will be gladly accepted. Thanks, Jack J.
If you car is elevated, remove the rear tires and slide the rocker molding over the retainer. Starting at the rear of the retainer, place the upper edge of the front of the molding on the retainer and slowly slide the molding towards the front of the car. With the #8 washers in place, I have found this the easiest and safest way to install rocker moldings.Leif

Re: 1964 rocker moulding
Jack,Frank & Leif, I was successful installing the rockers last night. The passenger side still proved to be more difficult. Neither side received all of their respective screws underneath, but I don’t believe the rockers will fall off in my lifetime. Sliding them in was the key. Minor paint touch up on the passenger side, nil on the driver’s side. Thanks to both of you! Jack J.
Good to hear success stories. I should have mentioned to used some blue painters tape on the paint at either end of the retainer. Hopefully, the touch-up is not noticeable.Leif
