Re: Last Day of Production for 1972 Model Year

Dave, the quantity of 72 LT1 AC convertibles produced I stated is only what I heard (rumored), I wasn't trying to create a stir. I'm only curious if someone knows of one with a later production number than ours.

      Fred,
Never meant to infer anything at all. Just thought it was a good discussion and wanted to keep it going. My thought is to try to get a better estimate of the total production of coupes and convertibles together. We certainally will never know the quantity of each.

I mean no offense either. I too have often heard that 240 number put forth, but so far always without any supporting evidence. I would love to get some kind of authoritative number of 1972 LT1/C60 production even though I don't have a dog in that race. It is a question that comes up often, and the answer: "We just don't know." doesn't seem satisfactory.

IF ONLY someone had a copy of Chevrolet Production Trends for 1972 with the ECL production numbers, like the data available through Sept 1969.

I am sure the LT1 would have had a different C60 ECL, as the compressor clutch, tach etc are all different than any other AC combo.

No, I do not have options listed for that car. My notes indicate that I did see the car, but that is all I can tell you. You might check with Scott Lindee to see what data, if any, he has.

Looks like the last LT1 was vin 26998. Unfortunately the data does not indicate any other options for 1972.

We did add our 72 LT1 (#26756) with Scott Lindee. He stated that ours was the lasted 72 LT1 convertible C60 car in his records.

I have 26749 in my data base. It did not list it as A/C in the Driveline ad back in 1991. It is also the last 1Z67L I have. (I only have 304 entries for 1972)

Here are the other 1Z67s I have in the DB.

Looks like about 14 or so A/C cars

Looks like Steve Gussack was collecting that data back in the 80s. He posted a survey in the 5/1986 issue of Vette Vues. It's only been 23 years since I entered those (jeez where does the time go?) I still have that issue. I will see if I can find it.

Eric, thanks for your reply and all the 72 LT1 data. If you're still collecting data let me know if you want the data on ours. At this point we still believe our 72 LT1 convertible C60 car was the last one matching those options built. We're aware there were 72 LT1 built post our production number but they weren't covertible AC cars.

Hi Glenn, Scott Lindee is the keeper of the LT1 data base, you should be able to use the NCRS message app to contact him. There is a 72 LT1 C60 group that is tracking 72 LT1 AC cars. Please post photos of your LT1
