Re: Fuel Leak
I'm confused. That fitting with the rubber hose is a vacuum fitting. Are you sure the leak isnt coming from the steel line directly next to it? That's attached to the rear fuel bowl, and could be leaking at the carb fitting and dripping onto that vacuum fitting.- Top

Re: Fuel Leak
Agree. That is a vacuum fitting and rubber vacuum line. It is not the source of any fuel leak.
Take off the air cleaner, and then take a photo.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Thanks! Showing my ignorance and will lift the air cleaner element and investigate further.I'm confused. That fitting with the rubber hose is a vacuum fitting. Re: Fuel Leak
I did some more investigating on the fuel leak by removing the air cleaner element. Potentially, have 2 leaks; one in the rear of the carb and one in the front. Not sure about the front however. Wondering if the leak in the back of the carb is running to the front of the carb of course on the bottom side. The leak in the rear of the carb stops after the engine is off. But, the leak in the front continues even with the engine off.
History on the car…it is low mileage(9300) and sat idle in storage for 20 years (+/-). I bought it just back in March of this year and have driven it slightly. It is a pain to start and now wondering if the carb issue is the reason it is a pain to start. I read somewhere that the Holley carbs should be restored every 10 years. I have to believe this carb has never been restored.
Do I need to have the carb restored? I absolutely do not want to replace it(not sure that I could find a correct coded carb anyways).
If restoration is in my future does anyone have any referrals to getting this done. I believe I heard of guy up in Dayton, OH that is supposed to be good at this. I have attached a couple videos and if anyone has the time to watch them and give me some advice it would definitely be appreciated. The videos are short.
Thanks,

Your photos are currently private.
You're better off uploading them here like you did in the first post.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Fuel Leak
Thanks Patrick for letting me know about the videos being private. I am not sure how to change that setting. These new files are videos and not pictures as I had in my OP. I re-created a link from DropBox hoping that helps. The best I could tell is you have to use links to include videos in a post. I tried to attach but you can only attach pictures. Hope this helps as I am really interested in feedback.- Top

Re: Fuel Leak
Keith, I'm guessing you have leaks at your fuel lines. Could be a couple other places as well. I rebuilt the Holley on my last 70 LT1 and it worked out well for me. For you, I would get advise from Lars Grimsrud and ask if he will rebuild your carb. He does Not restore them, he rebuilds them properly and tests them before he sends it back and charges a very fair price. I sent a Quadrajet to him in the past. You will get back a good running carb that is very clean and still be a survivor, not a pretty new looking one that may not run properly.
Seeing your fuel pump pictures in the past, there were a few wrenches on those lines. You may want to have some one look at them and replace the 2 fuel bowl lines (at the least) as well. Here's Lars' email to get some good advice.
