Be aware that certain NCRS members names and emails are being used in a scam. It goes as follows. " I have a favor to ask. Do you have an Amazon account?" You can guess what happens if you answer. Probably an old scam but new to me.

Re: NCRS Member Scam Warning
Jimmy,
Happens way to often nowadays.
Members should change their email passwords immediately after being advised they were hacked.
Ye ole rule "be careful what you click on". Just sayin'

Re: NCRS Member Scam Warning
Jimmy, you do not have to be hacked. Any non-NCRS member can access most of the information on the NCRS website. They can get to CONTACTS. All they need is cut and past and they have everyone's name and email in CONTACTS. They can also set up your name in a phone Yahoo or Gmail account.
I suggest you create an alternate email for all non-personal information, like JIMMNCRS@GMAIL.com or Yahoo or Comcast. If you start getting BS emails, delete it and create another. Works for me.

Re: NCRS Member Scam Warning
I got hit with something similar two weeks back, somebody wanting a "favor" using an email address of a pal that I recognized (and an NCRS member). Scammer knew I had owned a 61 somehow but when I asked him what color and where did we both stay while at Sebring in 2010 that was the last I heard from him. Healthy skepticism is your best friend.- Top

Re: NCRS Member Scam Warning
Frank,
FWIW, you should never reply to one of those emails. By replying you've just confirmed your email address, etc. that they can use.

Re: NCRS Member Scam Warning
I am ashamed to say that I was close to falling for an email that looked exactly like the style sent by one of my friends. It even had his home phone number just as his real email does. The only difference was the phone number was 1 number different, so I would get an out of service message.
I called his cell and he told me that quite a few people in his address book got this phony Email. He pointed out that the reply Email address had his Email Address with an extra symbol not noticeable.
Watch out for the other scam. Phony Computer Technical Company Web Sites Such as "Geek Sqad". They my even contact you. One of my friends lost $40,000 with this scam. They cleaned out his bank account. So far it does not look like he is going to recover any of the money.- Top
