Gary, The license plate bezel on my 63 is not that great. So years ago I bought a NOS one. (not for sale).
It's typical NOS service replacement. Wrinkles etc. John

Hello Gary, My license plate light bezel was badly oxidized. I used "Flitz" metal polish on it and it came out like new. I put a coat of wax on it after polishing and 8 years later, it still looks new. John

Gary , i used the finest steel wool out there and mine came out nice . I had purchased a repro to replace mine because of all the overspray but the fit was just plain awful . very thankful i didn't throw my original one out

                    Excellent Restoration!

Not even a "dot" on the sheet if I were to judge it.

Gary, You're doing what our charter goes by. Well done!

Easy off oven cleaner (the HD stuff) will remove the clear anodizing - which will make achieving an even finish much easier.

I've used citric acid to remove remnants of zinc.
HD Oven Cleaner which consists of Sodium Hydroxide/lye/caustic soda is not acidic, it's an extremely strong base. Perhaps acid would remove anodizing however I think anodizing is done using a electricity and an acid bath.
