It's interesting there's a LIC display ad in the Driveline I received this week.

You may be thinking about "Dr Rebuild's" catalog, but not the "... correct for judging..." part.

His catalog has a very specific notice of no NCRS or Bloomington Gold guarantee.

Dr Rebuild catalog does double list many parts with "GM" on one line, and "Repro" or "China" on another line. Easy to order / easy to identify what part you're getting.

      Dave,
You are absolutely correct in stating that it is the good Doc who offers both "GM" and repro products (on some items). Additionally, he proudly displays "Made in USA" when the part was made here. He honestly displays and explains the difference. I, for one, always buy his made in the USA products or the GM originals.
Geoff is extremely good for our hobby and I hope he's with us for a long time.

They always paid annually for the ad, and haven't told me to remove it yet...expires with next edition (Nov/Dec)

Leif, I agree with you 100%. The Doc is #1 in my book. I will pay more for a quality made U.S.A made part.

            Gary B,
I had the discussion with PR's remaining owner at Carlisle couple years ago, there was no interest and we know now the result of not being a car guy...

Consolidation in this parts industry I expected, LICS to Zip sounds like saving the wave. PR sell out doesn't sound good, there has been staff departures and the new owners haven't ponied up as it sounds Zip did. There is another behind the scenes that a lot of these parts came from, Vette Products of Mi, a lot of the CC PR backorders are rooted in the products fabricated there.

            Ron,

That confirms my naivety. Not for the first time.

                    Re: Long Island Corvette Closed

Geoff and I exchange emails about every couple of months and he has included personal notes with parts orders at times.
The Doc and LICs are (were?) the "go to" places for the most correct parts, for 63s at least, I suspect, like my experience with first gen Mustangs, the vendors will eventually collapse down to the "big boys" like CJ Pony Parts and National Parts Depot.

Ed Szeliga nailed it in his post above #45, add to that, that in this current climate, people are being paid to stay home and small businesses are now in competition with government payouts, so hiring and keeping quality staff is a challenge. I'll just leave that as is to avoid politicizing the thread.

The question going forward is if the acquiring company(s) will attempt to maintain the quality of the small guy's offerings and, without pricing them in the stratosphere.
