    66 Windshield Date Code

I need some help figuring out my windshield date code on my 66 roadster. I need to buy a new windshield but the code on the window doesn’t make sense when I compare it to codes in the Judging Guide. My windshield is a Soft Ray with the AS1 code on it but the date code is PL. I dont’ see that anywhere on the Glass Date Codes chart for 65 and 66 in the Judging Guide. Is this possibly a replacement windshield?

Btw - I’m replacing the windshield due to lots of sand pitting from it’s first 30 years spent in Laguna Beach, CA.

    Thanks for the help.

the date code on your windshield is obliterated by something. It's under the word Plate. But you can make a good guess what it might be, using the build date of your car, and the date codes on your door glass pieces. Look at the date codes in the 66 JG that precede your car build date by a month, two or three. Do those codes appear on your door/ wind-wing glass? In very close inspection can you make out the code on your windshield now that you know what the letters might be? If not, just pick a code that appears on more than one of your door glass pieces, and use that (if it is a month, two or three before your car build date). Good luck.

Thanks to all for the replies and education. It appears the marking on the windshield has faded away where the date code would be. I did check the vent windows and side windows and all of them had NA date codes which is January 66. My car is late May 66 build, VIN 22652. A little beyond the normal 2-3 months but well within the 1 year acceptable limit in the JG. I plan to order an NA windshield.

          Thanks again for the help.
