Re: Sealing fiberglass repair before painting with lacquer
Lacquer primer/surfacer is compatible, however is not a very effective sealer.
If it is a small place (appears to be) and out of line of sight, rattle can lacquer primer would work as few are likely to crawl under the car to check the fineness of the finish around the exhaust on the rear valence.
however if you are worried about sanding scratches showing later or feathering showing later etc. Finish all your body work, pin holes etc and then use the 1:1 epoxy for sealing the different substrate repair mediums from the top coat.
Local paint jobber should be able to put 1:1 epoxy it into a punch and mix rattle can. - if not I know they have 2K build primers in the punch and mix cans.
Once you punch the catalyst and mix the can -- either use it with-in a few hours (refer to can) or lose it.James A Groome

Re: Sealing fiberglass repair before painting with lacquer
Gary,
Rally Red was sealed with a non lacquer red rust sealer, and then there was a dark blue-gray surfacer before applying the real rally red.
My opinion is, based upon fact that red does not cover well...is that surfacer contributes to the correct look of the red.
BTW, I have the last know paint master from DuPont PPG from the era, as well as a few gallons of the real paint. To fix things like you are showing,- Top

Re: Sealing fiberglass repair before painting with lacquer
Ron,
I know this could affect the karma between me and my car, but how easy is it for me to get the blue-gray surfacer to cover about 3 square inches? If not easy, then I think my car will understand.
