I have heard that John Wolf had stopped doing the fuel sending units. Hope that is not the case.

Steve has done several for me. Fast turnaround and high quality work with the correct color washer valve.

                        Enzo,
I sent two fuel sender units to Bob's Speedometer in Michigan for restoration. Unfortunately, it took sending them back three times to get them working correctly. I'm not convinced that he bench tested them until the very last time. I sent him the John Hinckley article on bench testing and he finally got it right. I dealt with the owner (Bruce) and he was reasonable to deal with and made it right with me, including paying for shipping both ways after the first trip. You can google their site at www.bobsspeedometer.com and phone 800-592-9673. You may want to do more research from others to get their opinion on Bob's. I thought they did a nice job for the most part. One thing that we did experience was fuel leakage at the wire terminal connections. Bob used the original gaskets (I guess you would call them that) and we had fuel dripping. We took them apart and used fuel resistant sealant which solved the problem. Now I can't recall the brand of sealant but if you need it I can get back to you. It must be fuel resistant. Hope this helps.
                        Terry

                          Terry,

Boy, I would have thought that the use of fuel resistant sealant around the terminals, and bench testing would be standard with any fuel sender restoration. I know that John Wolf routinely used terminal sealant. Otherwise, I think the thru-terminals are destined to leak.

Recently installed an NOS fuel sending unit on a new (repro) tank. New gasket and lock ring and the unit leaked fuel around the fuel outlet tube where it was soldered/welded or press-fit to the plate. Got a new (repro) from CC and no problems. Will likely try to rebuild the original IAW an online how-to article and then see what can be done with the NOS unit.
