The 12v wire for my cigarette lighter has a female spade connector on it but the lighter + is a round terminal. What am I missing?

Re: 72 Cigarette lighter
If my memory serves me, the spade connection is the ground to the outer shell of the lighter and the center round connector at bottom tip of lighter was the 12v lead. I have a '71.- Top

Here's my thread with the same question. I'm still not sure of the correct configuration. I think some cars (including yours and mine) use a lighter with a spade connector for the 12v lead.

Re: 72 Cigarette lighter
yes, the same issue so I just made up a short male to barrel connector. When the next owner opens up the console I can hear them now! What the H... is this rig? I will consider it payback for all what I have come across over the years!- Top

Re: 72 Cigarette lighter
Apparently some cars have a 12v spade connector and some have a round connector. Ground is a spade connector.
I haven't seen a source for a replacement socket with a spade connector but haven't looked extensively.Mark Edmondson

Re: 72 Cigarette lighter
Hmmm. My earlier reply may have confused some. I believe my lighter has spade and round connectors. The spade is ground and the round connector (fits on threaded stud)is 12V+. See photo below.
Hope this helps.Attached FilesDon Lowe

Re: 72 Cigarette lighter
Don,
Your communication is understood. I'm saying (and I believe Bob too) some cars have a male spade for the center 12v connection rather than a round connection as in your photo. See https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...hlight=lighterMark Edmondson
