    72 Cigarette lighter

The 12v wire for my cigarette lighter has a female spade connector on it but the lighter + is a round terminal. What am I missing?

If my memory serves me, the spade connection is the ground to the outer shell of the lighter and the center round connector at bottom tip of lighter was the 12v lead. I have a '71.

Here's my thread with the same question. I'm still not sure of the correct configuration. I think some cars (including yours and mine) use a lighter with a spade connector for the 12v lead.

yes, the same issue so I just made up a short male to barrel connector. When the next owner opens up the console I can hear them now! What the H... is this rig? I will consider it payback for all what I have come across over the years!

Apparently some cars have a 12v spade connector and some have a round connector. Ground is a spade connector.

I haven't seen a source for a replacement socket with a spade connector but haven't looked extensively.

Hmmm. My earlier reply may have confused some. I believe my lighter has spade and round connectors. The spade is ground and the round connector (fits on threaded stud)is 12V+. See photo below.

              Hope this helps.

                Don,

Your communication is understood. I'm saying (and I believe Bob too) some cars have a male spade for the center 12v connection rather than a round connection as in your photo. See https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...hlight=lighter
