      Stephan,
I had my radio done by one of the greats, and he asked me about my speaker and I told him it was new from a vendor. He then told me that my AM would fail . He then asked me if I had the original? I did and he gave me the place to send it.
The original still had a transformer on it and all was under 50.00. That was 4 years ago.
Do the original. I think the radio guy retired but as close to his name was Gerry Rubeck.
      Radio and speaker are great.

John, what are the numbers on the back of the speaker? Or, post a picture of the back.

Just my humble opinion based on my own experience on my '72. If ORIGINALITY is your goal then DEFINATELY get it re-coned. If sound is a important, just get a JBL Flip, or something similar, and use your phone for music. I spent all the $$ on the radio restoration and best "available" speakers and quite frankly it sounds like a 50 year old radio. Now I have both but lean toward the phone and JBL for listening. As always, your choice based on your goals. Have fun!

Original speakers can be re-coned and restored or you can go to http://www.turnswitch.com click on Products then Classic Car Speakers and 2/3 of the way down the page you can read about and purchase a correct replacement with the 1.5 ohm 26 millihenry load coil.

Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone have a good shop to repair my speaker?

                Thanks, Mike

I have used Jackson Speaker Service for all of my original C2 speakers. If I remember correctly the cost was around $50 for the re-cone.

                  Jackson Speaker Service
                  3921 Pine Crest Ct.
                  Jackson, MI 49203

                  Highly recommend them. Thanks Mike
