                  Typically is the key word. The chassis was slowly moving so sometimes the partial vin number was stamped closer to the right rear corner.
                  Sometimes stamped two maybe three times. The quality of the samping was typically poor.
                  Jim Gesner can tell you a lot more. . Al Grenningused to send me photos of stamping that were somewhat shocking.
                  I once saw an early '65 plenum stamped at the front of the plenum on the same pad that holds the balance tube clamp. Only ever saw that one time and I have restored a ton of '65's.

                    www.vettefinderjim.com. Good examples there. As I understand, when the engine pad was stamped, the same vin stamp was stamped on the plenum.
