    C3 Shock mount removal tool

Is the shock mount removal tool anything special other than an enclosed nut and will a stacked set of nuts bolted onto the shaft accomplish the same thing? I see the tool everywhere but was wondering if it does anything different or better than two nuts back to back? It has been a long time since I replaced the shocks on my 72 and I don't recall how I did it, thus the question.

    thank you,
    Gary

You have enough miles on replaced shocks to think they need replacing?

The enclosed end of the tool is thick, and you will deform it if you hit it hard enough. The problem with using two nuts is that you may deform them enough you can't remove them.

you know the answer to that, Patrick. No! But my friend's 67 has some hideous yellow shocks on his 67 and he wants them off.

So, Patrick, your answer makes sense. Hadn't thought of that.

Thank you in spite of your sarcasm.

YOU DO NOT NEED A SHOCK MOUNT REMOVAL TOOL TO REMOVE SHOCKS.

Shock mount removal tool is used to separate rear control arm (strut rod) from wheel spindle bearing assembly.

          Daave,

I see that now . I got hung up on the "shock mount removal tool" description and made an assumption.

          thank you,

          Gary
