1961 270 HP WCFB Float settings

After the last rebuild about 18 years ago, the accelerator pump failed. I decided to rebuild the carburetor. I wanted to confirm the float adjustment and found different measurements. Can someone please confirm the best settings including float drop?
    Thanks!

Re: 1961 270 HP WCFB Float settings

In my many conversations with Ron (owner of Daytona Parts) he recommends using the info included in the rebuild kits as they provide updated info and the latest settings for modern rebuild kits and gas. In the case of C1s that is 1/8" primary and 1/4" secondary for float levels. I use drill bits of that size (the unfluted end) to measure between the float and inverted air horn withOUT the gasket. Roll the drill bit under the float and adjust until you just hear a faint metallic "tink" sound (technical term); when doing so as the float contacts the bit -with the float not moving or moving the tiniest amount - that's perfection. Float drop is 3/4"; I have rebuilt prob 8 sets of dual quads and a dozen single carb applications using these measurements. They reduce perc and insure adequate fuel reserve in the bowls.

If you haven't added the "left turn, anti-stall" fix already its a good time to do it, post here if you need specific infor for that fix and I'll provide it. There is a facotry TSB concerning the issue.

Do NOT mix up the air horn screws on reassembly - there are THREE different sizes and you can strip out the holes if you get things wrong!
