    Well, wow!!!!! Just wow!!!!

Now I know there are at least two of these high volume pumps! One difference between the two is that the other pump has an aluminum end plate while yours has a traditional cast iron end plate.

Look in the vicinity of the stamped identifying figures. Is anything else stamped there beyond the normal "001" "Made in USA", etc?

Note that the shaft for your pump is correspondingly longer than pump shafts for normal pumps. Frank Antonicelli can make or have made a replacement if ever you need one.

Full disclosure: That "other pump" I've mentioned? It's mine.

Dave, what's the known history of your 4900R? Was it used on a car which was raced? Is there anything else about it that is unusual?

        Jim,
In addition to the normal stampings there is a hand stamped EP3234. It also has a rougher phosphate finish on it.

Bingo! That's the same stamping on my pump.

Here are a couple of pictures of mine. The aluminum end plate is clearly visible.

These pictures are from Jerry Bramlett's "museum" web page.

            Dave,

Going to have to deduct points as those screws should be filled with lead and a letter molded into them. Sorry for the lost points.

You'll take another deduction for having gears which are too wide. Tell you what, just send that incorrect pump to me and no one will be the wiser.
